amber's in madagascar for 27 months

The first semester is over and I am heading to in service training and then vacation. On the 17th I think we are going to visit the US Embassy and go swimming in a real pool. I’ll be travelling around for a few weeks then. I’ll check back in here around New Years. MAIL—thanks to Jane, Becky, Tyler and Emily for packages/letters/books/magazines/m&ms etc. That stuff is super useful!

I went to Anja Park the other day—pictures are up! So I finally saw a lemur in the wild. And went on a really random hike to find them. We walked all through the reserve and couldn’t find them, and then as we hit the entrance again on our way out of the park we came across a big family of them. I also got stung by a wasp that was pissed because I probably hit the nest when we were climbing around on the rocks getting through the trail. So my sting count is up to two now.

I am in Tana for two days now. Tomorrow I plan on doing western things and shopping and then going to the embassy. Oh I have an ATM card here now, fancy. Saturday is an embassy housewarming rum party?!? Sunday we head out to the training center for the week. So I’ll have internet a few times this month and can communicate slightly more often if you are feeling so inclined. So the volunteers in my region rented out a taxi-brousse to take us to Tana today. It was nice because we got door to door service for about the same price as going with the normal folks. But to summarize the day it took us 12 hours to travel 450 kilometers. Long day. So I apologize for the lame entry.
